Curriculum at Willowwind is designed around the principle of project-based learning. Students engage in authentic learning activities that increase student interest and motivation. Inter-disciplinary units are designed to answer and/or solve real world questions.
The Kindergarten class will be focusing their studies on a central theme: Connections to Our World. Through Social Studies and Science we will study the impact we as individuals can have on other people and the natural world. We will learn that although we are young we can make a positive difference in the lives and worlds we touch.
Throughout the Kindergarten year, students will also develop a relationship with letters, letter sounds, words, and books. The Cottontails will be eager readers by the end of the year! We will also spend our year focusing on numeric relationships (number sense, counting, sorting, patterns, shapes, and basic math facts).
This Kindergarten year will surely be exciting and adventuresome. Are you ready for the journey this year will bring? I am!
